The big giant head

So anyway a few days ago I was rather annoyed, there was no MAJOR reason for this except that outside Canary Wharf Station there was a sculpture that my friends and I nicknamed ‘The Big Giant Head’ – for obvious reasons (it was basically a bronze sculpture of a giant head). The nickname came from the television series ‘Third Rock from the Sun’. This was the meeting point for friends and family whenever we wanted to get together in Canary Wharf, conversations used to go like: “ Ok so we’ll meet round half-past seven at the big giant head!” Silly I know but it was fun.

So the other day I am leaving CW station and to my horror the head was gone and in its place was a… well it looked like constipated Polar Bear – it was all angles and steel. It ruined the whole in-joke as “Hey I’ll meet you near the constipated bear!” really lacks a certain je ne sais quoi (I have almost no French so that may be spelled incorrectly). I finally did locate the head – it had been moved to the side of the Lehmann Brothers building and put on a smaller plinth. When the head was where it was people could lean up against the big wooden box-like thing it was placed on, the Bear just sits on a slab of granite. I saw a child climbing all over it the other evening it was really depressing. Sooner or later someone is going to run into one of the pointy bits. That night I mourned for about ten minutes then fell asleep.

Last night

Abbey Wood station just after 8 o'clock two trains were cancelled. It was hilarious, all the people on the platform whipping out their mobile phones "Ah dont fackin' believe it the fackin' trains cancelled, the next one is delayed. You come over 'ere right? It will be quicker!" Things like that, it warmed me to the cockles of my little heart - Africa time on British rail, I was just sitting there laughing quietly to myself.

That said there have been a few times when I have been caught on the wrong side of delayed and cancelled trains, but still I was not in a rush to go partying last night so I was amused *grins*

Bck to work - I feel better already!

Heyyyyyyyyyy it is my birthday tomorrow I am turning [classified] woo-hoo! My parents are over here in the UK so I will have a family birthday for the first time since 2002 great stuff!

Been doing Reading Scheme certificate hand-outs all day today fun stuff! I am on leave next week I need the break I am feeling a little too stretched-out and that is not good. I have a black mood brewing but I hope t will dissapate I am really not in the mood to be moody for the next long while I have had enough of that lately!

Anyway enough self-pity I must buck up and be on my best it is my last few hours of being [classified].
